THE PAN-AFRICAN DOCTORAL ACADEMY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA

 

The Pan-African Doctoral Academy at the University of Ghana supports doctoral students and early career faculty with training, mentoring, career guidance and scholarship. The overarching goal of PADA is to increase the quality of PhD education in West Africa by providing complementary skills that are essential for the academic and career progression of doctoral students and new PhD holders.

The flagship program of PADA is the doctoral school which offers targeted courses on specialized topics and as well provide opportunities for interdisciplinary and cross-cultural learning. PADA schools combine lectures with interactive and practical sessions, and are facilitated by experienced faculty. Since 2015, the doctoral school has trained over 600 alumni from 15 institutions and 7 countries. PADA schools are held in January and June-July and are open to registered PhD students from the University of Ghana and other African universities.

 

INVITATION TO APPLY TO THE PADA JANUARY 2019 DOCTORAL SCHOOLS

PADA is pleased to announce a call for applications for its Doctoral Schools in January 2019. The Schools are open to all PhD studentsfrom universities in Africa. We especially encourage applications from students in West African universities.

Applicants are advised to apply early as space is limited and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Note: Only modules that receive the minimum number of applicants will run.

Doctoral School 1:   14 – 18 January 2019

**The University of Ghana and the School of Graduate Studies will offer a limitednumber of scholarships to 1st and 2nd year UG students only for the module on 'Managing the PhD Process'. 

 

Doctoral School 2:     21 – 25 January 2019

DEADLINES

The deadline for applications is 15 November 2018.   
Successful applicants will be notified by 20 November 2018. 
Payment must be made by 30 November 2018.
